Where to stay in Whitianga, Coromandel?

Hi,

We are newly weds and are honeymooning in New Zealand (as my husband is a kiwi). We're planning on spending a few days in Coromandel and after various advice and opinion have decided to stay in Whitianga. We'll be there 2nd week of Dec - plan to leave by 14th as when schools are out and have heard it gets busy.

I've looked at a few websites but tbh am overwhelmed! We will also have our young daughter with us (18months) so a child friendly place is a must.

Anyone out there got any recommendations?

looking forward to hearing from you,

Susie

Hi susie sue, the Waterfront Motel is a great place to stay (try for the penthouse rooms for an even better view) the view is spectacular from any of the rooms and it's just across the road to the lovely sandy beach. It is very handy to town, the ferry and restaurants (5mins) While there make sure you head to the Fireplace Restaurant just around the corner by the ferry wharf- fabulous food!

Hi Susie,

Not sure if you are opened to another option in Hahei, which is a short ferry ride to/from Whitiaga. If you are, check out Cathedral Cove Villas. They have nice villas (studio and 2 bedroom) which have close access to the beach.

I agree with Zappers that you should visit The Fireplace restaurant. My husband raves about the pizzas!

Cheers!
