Dowler Apartments Perth

Just back from a family vacation in Perth and thought I might share my experiences with you about this accomodation

We stayed in one of their townhouses in Subiaco after changing our mind about staying in the CBD

The location was just fantastic - Subiaco has loads of restaurants/ coffee houses - and the house was perfectly adequate for our family of 4 within a 5 minute walk to the train station and then another 5 minute train ride to central Perth.

rates were cheaper than most of the apartment hotels we looked at some of which we checked out during our stay and would say that we were glad we went for the house in Subiaco

Regards

Where to begin?

we stayed for over a month and in that time managed to get around quite a bit so in no particular order...

The people in Perth are very friendly especially those working in the shops & restaurants - nothing was too much trouble

everywhere in the city and the suburbs seemed to be very clean and the whole city felt safe

went on the torchlight tour of Freemantle Prison and enjoyed it immensly

prices - was last here about 5 years ago and have noticed a big difference - prices are now similar to U.K. for everyday things except petrol!

looked at quite a few hotels in and around the CBD and for families I would say forget it - area extremely quiet at night and Perth is so easy to get around that any of the suburbs would make a pretty good base.

spent some time down south around Margaret River - will post on that later (enjoyed that too)

Great stuff - helps with enquiries in the future. Glad you found service good - must just be locals that don't :-) And you are right about the prices, Perth is now very expensive. Look forward to reading about MR in the future.

if you think the service is bad you wanna try living over here!

rented a house in Dunsborugh which we used as a base for our 3/4 days around Margaret River

Drive down from Perth pretty tedious - stopped at Mandurah - lots of building going on looks like the town is really getting ready for the arrival of the train connection suspect this is going to make it really popular for people wanting to commute

also stopped at Bunbury for coffee so never really had a proper look round

Weather was great when we went to Busselton so the trip to the jetty was well worth it although train not running and underwater observatory closed:(

Dunsborough was larger than I expected and is obviously very popular in the summer - Beach House was Fantastic

Ngligi cave was an unexpected treat and well worth a visit and if you're into wine in any way the number of vineyards to visit would fill a holiday on its own

Also thought that the town of Margaret River itself wasnt too spoilt or over the top commercially

would defintitely like to come back and visit all of the above in the Aussie summer
