Lobster

Hi.. Will be in Perth early nov. Can anyone please recommend a reasonably priced place for lobster? Will be staying in scarborough But we will be renting a car. So, any good recommendations? Someone mentioned lobster shack? But I don't seem to be about to find exact location of it.

Thank you very much in advance.

Lobster Shack is in the small town of Cervantes, two hours north of Perth. Google it.

I cannot help with any restaurant recommendations as I don't eat shellfish.

Rock lobster, more commonly known as crayfish here, is never particularly cheap.

Check out prices at places such as Kailis to get an idea of price.

They are often called crayfish in WA. Also very expensive here as most are sent overseas for lucrative export market.

In Fremantle they used to be available at Joes Fish Shack and The Cray Seafood and Grill in Belmont (Cheapest on menu is $38 for half tail )

and Red Cray Mt Lawley.

Have also seen it on menus at Good Fortune Roast Duck House in Northbridge, Perth city but never ordered it as their Chinese duck dishes are so good instead.

No doubt available at other places but expect to pay upwards if A$30 a half.

Lobster Shack is in Cervantes (fishing town) which tourists often like to visit because its also next to another attraction, the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park, about 2.5 hrs north of Perth.

Cervantes has lots of fishing boats which catch crayfish in season and you can also do tours of the factory attached to the cafe there.

Thats probably why you've heard the name.

The Red Cray has good Seafood. I think there are two - one near the airport and one in Mount Lawley.
