Accomodation & Resturants in Melbourne

My friend & I (2 straight females, late 30's) are coming to Melbourne for three nights R&R (shopping & pampering) in about 3 weeks time. We haven't booked any accomodation yet but we are wanting to see if we could get a good deal on twin accomodation, which is roomy, upmarket, central, preferably 5*, with prehaps a spa/beauty complex? What are the best options to consider please?

I understand that you need to book some resturants a few weeks in advance. We are foodies so would love to try the best Melbourne has to offer. Do you have any recommendations for resturants centrally located or within a short tram/taxi ride distance that has a great atmostsphere, a happening place to be, serving fantastic food & wine....it doesn't have to be the most expenses place in Melbourne!

Many thanks Haddie1

One restaurant to try is Longrain (Thai) in a great space.

Vue de Monde won the restaurant of the year for all of Austraia but apparently booked out way in advance.

Jamie Olivers 15 restaurant has opened but again booked out.

There are so many more to chose from.

Crown Towers is all of the things you mentioned - they ahve a nice day spa too, sooooooo close to so many restaurants within the crown casino complex and also a 5 minute walk to the southbank boulevard where many good quality restaurants are.

Another option is Langham Hotel, this is 5 minute walk to crown, they have a fantastic day spa there, very popular, they also have just opened new restaurant there, Melba i think its buffet but its meant to be amazing, Langham is a beautiful hotel too.

Also Sofitel Melbourne is classy and i loved the views - totally amazing and they have wahts called a club lounge where you get free edourves and drinks (including cocktails) unlimited between 5.30-7pm not sure if they have a spa but many are nearby, this hotel is located in a nice part of town but not close to many choices of restaurants and night life, its a beautiful hotel.

Lastly The Park Hyatt - my opinion THE BEST day spa!!!! have not stayed there though so cannot comment on the hotel itself, i do know its very $$$$ ..its somehwat close to Sofitel, you could stay at Sofitel and get treatments at Park Hyatt! Bliss!

I will let others recomend places for food and wine - perhaps detail a little more what your ideal place would be? ithere are just soooo many excellent options in Melbourne .
