Southbank Accomodation

My wife and I will be in Melbourne for 3 nights in early March, driving over from Adelaide to celebrate our wedding anniversary. As we want to check out the DFO, try our luck at Crown and eat out am trying to decide between Hilton South Wharf or Southbank One Apartments.

Anyone able to suggest which would be better.

I have not stayed in either hotel. Both are well located for your needs, however, I think Southbank One is better located to the both the Casino and is in more of a centrally located position. Having said this though, the Hilton is better located to DFO.

It's a fair hike from the hilton to the city or any of the Southbank restaurants. Once the shops at South Wharf close it's also a fairly quiet - some might say desolate- area.

Southbank One is a better location.

Hi,

I've stayed at the Hilton South Wharf numerous times & loved my stays. Although its a bit of a hike into the CBD it's still walkable to Southbank. I guess it depends how you like walking ? The DFO is located next door to the Hilton Hotel.

Otherwise; you do have hotels closer to the Crown like the Hotel Metropole, Quay West Suites, The Langham or the Travel Lodge depending on your budget.

This link has my reviews on Melbourne hotels which may assist you.
