unique great ocean road accommodations

hi.. going to travel the GOR in late August from Melbourne. I was planning to stop in/near Apollo Bay for first night then in Port Fairy based on reading forum material for the 2nd night.. I am trying to decide if I take a day trip to Coonawarra landing back in Port Fairy the 3rd night before going back to Melbourne or move on to the Grampians though I am not so much a hiker. I had considered going to Mildura/ murray sunset national park but that seems too far? Any suggestions for unique accommodations? Was considering Merrijig or Clonmara in Port Fairy and Apollo bay or Points south (wongara) closer to Melbourne. Is there any place to see Fairy Penguins along the trip.

Thanks K
