Parking near the Intercontinental Melbourne?

Staying at the IC Melbourne shortly and they only offer valet parking for $50 per night. No self-parking.

Does anyone know if there are any self-parking options within a short walk of the IC and what would the cost be per night?

Many Thanks

Crown Casino isn't too far from the IC and you can park overnight (8-24 hours) for $11. Best bargain in the city!

You could try and find a park on the street but you'd need to be gone early in the morning when the restrictions come into force. Like any city centre, parking in Melbourne is hard to find and expensive. There's parking around the gardens off St Kilda Rd but that's quite a hike.

Cheers for that - I thought there might be a parking garage across the road or something for a reasonable cost. I will check it out when I get there.

There are a number of commercial carparks in the area, including in the Flinders Lane precinct (behind the Intercontinental). Some of those are operated by Wilson (wilsonparking.com.au/go/regions/melbourne-cbd) and Secure (secureparking.com.au/find-parking/…20CBD). But "the devil is in the detail", as the deals available for overnight stays vary. One particular point to watch for is the time at which the overnight rate ends and the day rate kicks in - "overnight" often ends at 6 am and a couple of hours at the casual rate after this could end up quite expensive!

My hunch is that Crown could end up as being the best deal. Although it's across the King St bridge, it's not too far to walk, altho' you probably wouldn't want to cart any large bags from there.

Thanks again. I will just be parking and leaving the car parked for the few days that I am in Melbourne. So the Crown might be a good option. $50 a day valet hardly seems worthwhile when I won't be needing the car. That would be better spent on wine over dinner ;) If you were to park at the Crown and leave it for a couple of days you pay $11 per 24 hour period spent there?

Not quite sure how Crown handles consecutive days but seemingly the $11/day fee would apply for each day. See http://www.crownmelbourne.com.au/parking.

Note that the fee is higher on Fridays, Saturdays and at "peak" times.

Also note that the fee in the basement car park is higher. If you drive south bound across King St bridge (from, for example, the Intercontinental), that's the car park you'll enter (it's straight ahead of you, very clearly marked!). However, to get into the multi-storey carpark (behind Crown), if you're going south in King St, you need to go past Crown and do a U-turn after you go under the Westgate Fwy). This is quite easy (so long as you're watching for it, of course), as there's a marked lane and a cycle in the traffic lights that allows for U-turns.

(Edit - not sure if the link works, but you get to it from the Crown site under "parking")
