Car Parking In Melbourne City

We are hiring a 12 seater van with a height of 2.4 m. Most indoor parking in Melbourne has a height limit of 2.1 m. Any car parking places that can park the van in Melbourne city near Bourke Street or Elizabeth Street. Thank you.

Victoria market when the market is not on or on the street if only short term.

I notice that Wilsons, who operate of a number of car parks around the city, lists the height restriction of each of their car parks on their website (when you "click through" to the car park concerned), and, as you say, most are 2.1m or less. However, their "Digital Harbour" car park seems to be in the open, so it may meet your needs? I don't know this location myself, and it's way up in Dudley St some distance from Elizabeth St, but it may be suitable? However note that special rates apply when there are events at the Docklands Stadium (which would be once or more each weekend). See

www.wilsonparking.com.au/index.cfm…

There's also open air parking at Waterfront City, which is also up that way (even further away, though!)

waterfrontcity.com.au/info/getting-to-waterf…

(not sure what the rules are here when there are evens at Docklands).

And I think there's open air parking near the South Wharf DFO (but others may be able to provide more up-to-date info on this than I can)?

Thanks Gat16, for the helpful links. We checked with Wilson Parking and most of their car parks only have the ability to accommodate vehicles up to 2.2mts. Except for the car parks at Federation Square and Digital Harbour, which has an open air.

Try Crown Casino - I think their height restriction is 2 m but you would need to check with them.

They also offer one of the cheapest undercover parking options in the city - $10 for 24 hours.

Elsss, just a word of warning about car parks - check the prices before you go in. I have seen many irate people in the carpark behind my workplace in central Melbourne that are cursing the fact that they are paying $60 plus for parking for the afternoon. Most car parks do an early bird special where you have to be in by a certain time and then out after a certain time - it is often significantly cheaper than the usual fees. Also, if you park on the street, do not overstay your time or come back and put more money in the meter to extend the time - most carparks in the CBD now have sensors so they know how long you have been there.

There is an open air (outdoor) carpark right next door to Wesley Mission Melbourne 148 Lonsdale st, near the corner of Exhibition st. We have parked there often and quite like it as there is an attendant there all hours.

Try by the National Gallery Victoria on Flinders street(?) opposite Russell Street. cross the road from Russell Street back of Federation Square.

Not sure about the height restriction if there is one.

You could contact City of Melbourne in Swanston street and ask them for the height restriction.

I had the benefit of reading this post before my trip to Melbourne recently. Having been back, and also rented a 12-seater with a 2.4m height restriction, we parked at Queen Victoria Market, JM Carpark at 148 Lonsdale Street, DFO South Wharf and at Daly St / Almeida Crescent at South Yarra.

We also found it useful to hop on the free City Circle Trams once we have parked our 12-seater, to get nearer to our destination within the CBD or back to the vehicle. Have a good one!
