Has anyone tried to change a HILTON hotel booking ?

HI , I have booked the family queen room and diddnt realise it was at the back of the hotel overlooking the bay .

The reason I chose here was for the view, which is spectacular over the city .

We are only there 2 nights ,and the Hilton is very strict in there policies

(Next time I will read the details better )

Has anyone else tried to deal with them ?

I also bought the stay from rates to go ,which may not make it any easier .

Looks like I will just have to enjoy what we have , I have paid fully on c/c

Any ideas for maybe changing it or cancelling ?

Hmmmmmmmmmm,

Which Hilton and which Bay? Although with Hilton, and most chain hotels, you will need to open the window or look at the stationary to confirm which hotel in which country you are in.

Why not ask for a room change or upgrade via an e-mail?

I phoned the booking company and they sent an email , I phoned the hotel and they couldn't help .

I will avoid these large chains in the future .

It is my fault though as the booking stated , no refunds at the start .

It was booked through ' rates to go ' with credit card. In 12 days time

to get the best service (changes/cancellations) never book thru 3rd parties....always book directly with the hotel.

You probably got a cheap rate because it's not one of their best rooms.

If you are prepared to pay for an upgrade to a better room, I'd be very surprised if you couldn't arrange that on check in. Unless there's some sort of convention or event in town, I doubt that they will have 100% occupancy.

I would have though that a view over the water was preferable to a view of buildings.

If you book direct then you deal with the hotel.

If you book thru an agent it's up to them.

FWIW, the views of the Bay in those rooms is quite nice. From where the hotel is located you don't really get a very good city view IMHO, unless you have one of the top level floors you get the river, you need to be at the other end of Southbank.

This is my review on the room

Try for an upgrade on arrival, but as with many places, twin rooms rarely have premium location, they are designed for kids

Thanks everyone ,

I rang the hotel and asked for the 'front desk manager ' , after speaking to a lovely guy Daniel he assured me they had some rooms with city view withe the queen triple

So they will place us in one of those .

yeh , we come from the country and live close to water , so the draw card of the Hilton was the city view.

Next time I will book directly with the hotel ....there pics make the view look amazing

Thanks everyone

Hi,

Like most I use the booking sites to short list the accommodation then approach the venue direct to seek what i want and the "best" deal. Unless there are special events, conferences, school holidays or the like you can usually "talk' a better than advertised deal.
