Airport transfers

Advise please on transfers to and from airport for group of 6 persons and associated luggage from airport to Kavanagh St.

We are thinking Maxi cab rather than Skybus, can you pre book taxis or is there plenty on the ranks?

Arrive at airport at approx 17.10

Cheers

When you leave the arrivals hall you will see the cab rank. Just line up and tell the supervisor you'll need a maxi cab (he'll take one look at your group and probably figure that out for himself).

For the return journey, just get the hotel desk to order a maxi cab for you.

They cost 50% more than regular cabs but the alternative is 2 cabs so it's still cheaper. Definitely cheaper than Skybus for your sized group and much quicker. Airport to Kavanagh St is normally about 20 minutes but you'll be traveling in peak periods (if you arrive Mon-Fri) so it may take longer.

3. Re: Airport transfers

May I know how much approximately does it cost for a group of 4 adults and 2 kids taking the maxi cab from airport to CBD?

We will arrive at about 6 am. Do we need to pre book a maxi cab at this hour?

Alternatively, we can take the transport provided by hotel for $110. Is this a cheaper option?

At 50% premium for a maxi cab there's not a lot in it. I would probably opt for the hotel transport as its going to be a fixed price and so should you get stuck in afternoon peak traffic it won't matter. A cab fare to Sth Melbourne is about $70 so a maxi will cost at least $100.
