which suburb will suit us in melbourne?

Hi

My boyfriend and I are moving to melbourne at the start of Nov and have no idea where to start looking! We're both in our early 20's so dont want to be too far from the night life although prob cant afford to live in the city. I deally I would like a 2 bedroom with a little garden. Would the western suburbs be suitable?

thanx sarah

You might like the so-called boho areas like Brunswick, Northcote, Thorbury, Westgarth (these are North). Heaps of cafes and nice litlle shopping strips close by...city only 15 minute drive or catch tram/bus/train. I rented a 1 bedder in Brunswick about 3 years ago and it was $150pw...I suppose it depends on what your budget is and what your expectations are. A friend still lives in Brunswick and pays $165pw for a 1 bedder with all-in-one bathroom laundry and open plan kitchen & lounge area and off street parking(mine was same except it had no laundry facilities).

You may like to look at www.domain.com.au for some idea as to cost and location/s.
