8 day Itinerary for Tasmania

Hi

We are planning a 8 Day trip to Tasmania, reaching Hobart on Sat by air early Morning and Leaving on next Sunday from Devenport.

Please advise so we can cover most of Tasmania. We are with Kids of age 5 and 8.

Thanks in advance .........

In eight days you can see most of the island, but it depends on what your interests are and whether you want to drive every day or stay in just a few places.

Perhaps you could spend a few days in Hobart, then head north either via the east coast or up the Midland Highway to Launceston, stay there a few days then see a little of the north-west including Cradle Mountain and Stanley before departing from Devonport.

Anyway, take a look at this page for info on Touring by Car: tripadvisor.com.au/Travel-g255096-c119432/Ta…

There's a lot more info in the Top questions on the right of this page and also the Tasmania and Launceston forum pages.

Thanks for information. We are more intrested in places of Heritage interest and nature.

- Planning to stay 3 nights in Hobart,

- Drive up to Lake St Clare to get feel of West Coast

- then move Launceston and stay for 2 nights

- and then move to Cradle Mountain or stanly for 2 nights

- then last night stay in Devenport as need to leave in Morning

How about driving to Launceston via St Helen, is it worth having 5.5 hrs Drive in short program like we have

Have you tried putting that on a map? Sounds back and forth to me. Also if interested in heritage why not Port Arthur?

Lake St Clair is not on the west coast. It's right in the middle.

However, if you want to see the west coast, you could continue on from there to Strahan.

A possible route (and an efficient circle) would be to head from Hobart to lake St Clair, to Strahan, stay a day to do the river cruise, then to Cradle Mountain, then Launceston,

St Helens is not anywhere on that route. Again you could go there as a 2 day trip out of Launceston. Go there via Freycinet national park and return via Scottsdale.

but i think you're designing a very long road trip rather than a relaxing holiday. :)

And as MacKnee says, it's time to get the map out. there's a lionk to a small downloadable one in the Top questions on the right of this page, but you'll need to buy one from a servo or newsagent some time anyway.
