Parking Fee

May I know if we need to pay parking fee if we rent a car, drive around Hobart, & park our car in Hobart city, Port Arthur or Richmond? How the parking fee works for tourist who rent the car please? Thanks.

I'd be amazed if there wasn't a parking fee in Hobart city, possibly Richmond and Port Arthur. The person who does the parking (ie the renter) pays for the parking. If you don't pay, or contravene parking by-laws and a parking ticket is sent to the rental company, they will pass the fee on to your credit card and add an admin fee (of as much as $50) for their trouble.

Port Arthur carpark and the streets in Richmond are free to park, but there's a fee to enter Port Arthur itself.

In Hobart there is very little free parking during the day. There's meter parking in the streets and some multi-storey carparks. Details here: hobartcity.com.au/Transport/Parking_in_Hobar…
