Best nature experiences, best foodie/winelovers experiences

Tassie 2 week explore by 4WD and camping in May, probably do the odd stay in a B&B or historic little pub? Would like to hear about the most exhilarating natural wonders and the best places to enjoy Tassie's produce. We love the sea, we seek exceptional wine and food experiences plus would like to hear about any special local experiences travellers have had - like when you stay at a great little town where a gem of a musician is singing at the local pub and you meet interesting people, not just tourism operators.

Hi dlsmall, well you've hit the jackpot, Tassie has the lot everywhere :o)

May can get very cold, especially late in the morning, so maybe a few hotels might be the go.

Nearly every town has an historic pub with accommodation, and we have B&B's by the bucket load. Nearly every point of Tasmania has a lovely wine area. Food wise, you will find it hard to beat anything in Tasmania. A lot of the local produce can be bought on the side of the road, down little country lanes, providores, just about anywhere.

Just a few specific links to add to what Rob said.

Fine foods: tripadvisor.com.au/Travel-g255096-c139513/Ta…

Some B&Bs around the state: tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g255096-Tasmania-Hote…

For "exhilirating" - if you have the time - the Wild Rivers wilderness experience is without equal: tripadvisor.com.au/Travel-g255096-c173180/Ta…

And IMO, the best, easily accessible parks (apart from Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers which is hard work) are Cradle Mountain, Freycinet, Tasman Peninsula, Mount Field and Narawntapu.

And just one "rocked up and found music" experience we liked was at Ghost Rock Winery in the north of the state: http://www.ghostrock.com.au/

Enjoy your Tassie adventure. :)
