hi.

There are penguin viewing tours at Bicheno. Check out:

www.diamondislandretreat.com/attractions.htm (accomodation) and there is also a link there to the penguin tour. There is a minimal cost.

You get really up close and personal with them. Enjoy!

HI,

There are penquin tours at Low Head on the Tamar River just half hour from Launceston.

Great guide bookings you phone 0418 361 860. There are heaps of other things to do in this area too. Like the Pilot Staion.

You should try to stay somewhere in the Tamar Valley instead of Launceston!

Alternatively if you are going from Bicheno to Launceston take a detour and stay in Bridport and then go to the Penquin tour at Low Head on dusk. Then the next day you can explore the rest of the Tamar Valley and go to Launceston to the Cataract Gorge.

valmai - if you opt for Bicheno, chech that accommodation is WELL BACK from the sea, otherwise you'll get no sleep at all. Organised tours may offer some interesting commentary, but they are really easy to find - their tracks are well worn.
