I like the position of the Stamford personally. Right there in the city. 5min walk to museum and art gallery, rundle mall and lots of restaurants.

It's located on North Terrace across from the casino. There isn't a great deal there, however only a block back to your left is Rundle Mall, and beyond it Rundle St.

The centre of the city isn't far also from Norwood and Hyde Park, both easily accessible by taxi for little cost.

I wouldn't say lots right by but there is plenty in a short time distance.

The restaurant in the Sebel itself is excellent.

There are a few a short walk away behind in the next st (sorry can;t remember the name).

Only a short (free) tram ride down to Gouger St for Central Markets and Asian Cuisine.

Umm actually there are quite a few lunch and dinner places around there. North is just across the road next to the Casino, Parliamento is almost next door (very busy though). Regattas in the Convention Centre overlooking the river, a couple of restos in the Intercon across the road (though not my faves) A short walk up Bank Street to Leigh Street whic h has been made into a mall are Cos, the Corner Bistrot and Rigonis , a bit further to Waymouth Street is Georges.

The café at the back of the Art Gallery is also nice and only a few hundred metres walk

And then all the others as above. -which are a bit further away.

I agree with Nozzie, loads of places near Nth Terrace. I love Leigh St. Rigonis is awesome and there is one of Adelaide's best coffees served at Coffee Bank. Corner Bistrot is a lovely French bistro.

We go to Regattas in the afternoons with our kids and have some nibbles and a glass of wine outside overlooking the Torrens while the kids play on the grass.

Shiki is over the road in the Intercontinental if you want a super expensive fab night out.

Waymouth St is a 10-15min stroll away and has Melt, Press, Georges, Bistro Dom and a few other trendy spots.

What is the restaurant on the Torrens on King William......mental blank but you could walk there. Been there for years.

So I think Nth Terrace is a great spot to stay. Also good for shopping if that floats your boat. Come back to me for more advice on that front if you want it. That is very much my area of expertise!

Yep they were the ones i was thinking of. It's all relative.. lots and right by in this day and age. So many hotels are now over restaurant cellars ;)
