Whitsunday Islands - recommendations

Hi,

I plan to spend 3/4 days on the whitsundays with my boyfriend in March 06. Can anyone recommend particular islands and hotels to stay at. If it helps - we're both in our late 20's.

Any recommendations for cruising around the islands?

Thanks

Fran

My suggestion would be possibly Hamilton if you like to party or Daydream if you like it a little quieter. Lindeman is good if you don't mind little kids...

Personally, I love Daydream Island. It's a great place to relax. The nightlife is very quiet, so don't go there if you are looking for a place to party.

If I was still your age I'd stay at Airlie for the night life and "cherry pick" the best cruises by day. The man-made lagoon at Airlie is a great spot to work on your tan. There are reasonable restaurants and pubs. Stay at a backpacker place.

Hi dulgru,

Its better to post your own topic rather than on another, as that way forum members will notice and will reply quickly with relative information.

South Molle is great for budget.Small non commercial island with low rise beach bungalows. It has all the activities you find on other islands at half the price. The only disadvantage is that you only have one restuarant to eat at.

why not sail it for 3 days?

I did and got to head to the barrier reef as well, see daydream, whitehaven beach and hill inlet,

prosail i went with and the boat was broomstick and condor and matador are also good boats for this.

There maxi sailing yachts and was great fun helping out on the boats and sleeping on deck at night
