Renting a 4wd from Brisbane for 3 days on Fraser ?

Hello!

I am starting to look to rent a 4wd for a 3days camping trip on Fraser Island. It seems to be the most of them are in Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach, but as we would come from Brisbane and don't have a car we would prefer to be able to rent it from Brisbane. Anyone did that already ?

We are a group of 5 with a small budget and are opened to any suggestions!

Thanks in advance

To the op question. I would definitely go to reputable companies in the region of Fraser to hire a vehicle.

There you will get vehicles set y to drive in hard conditions. Fraser is not the place to bash about about in the sand in a hire car and have fun on the tracks . It's hard work staying on track and keeping your car from peril.

I have seen countless cars get bogged , broken and retrieved at a $$$$$ cost.

Get a reliable car and pay for it. It's not the place to skimp . People forget it can be remote and if you need towing it can be hours before you get back to here you need to be,

We have driven there many times and still each time the conditions challenge is in different ways. We have a 4wd and experienced in sand and all types of driving.

To the remaining posts, read your conditions. If something is cheap- it is cheap for a reason.

One issue is many tourists not from English backgrounds, don't fully understand documents that re not plain English. So when charges come through they feel like they can get on here and complain about them. . If you don't understand the conditions, don't sign the contract, even it means you may need someone. Else to read over a contract- do it. On the other hand some people are just dumb and don't respect the property they rent.

Hi Jessica, just a few points below which I am confused with.

- Your comment below

Businesses interfering? Last time I checked it's a free country and what I'm doing is presenting perspective so that readers may at least receive credible information.

My comment - Have you read all the posts about rentals of all types, there are many posts where other businesses not yours, try to have their say (pushing their company) without giving advice, which is against TA Guidelines.

- Your comments below

To question whether the extent of our method of operation is factual is offensive

My comments from Post#10 - I again commend you on your business principles and practices if all comments in your post #9 are factual, I can only trust what you say, which is hearsay.

- Your comments below

Telling people what other people have experienced is unreliable and third party information.

My comments - isn’t this word of mouth which you say is a good thing?

- Your comments below

you or anyone else cannot make comments such as vehicles are protected from salt water .

My comments - where did I say this?

- Your comments below

No car hire company, off road or otherwise, has their rental agreement online to my knowledge.

My comments - I didn’t ask for rental agreements to be put online, I understand that agreements will not be online, I said Terms and conditions check the web they’re everywhere.

I have mentioned frequently that you/your company are to be commended if you sit with all your customers, I think this brilliant and rare, I can’t confirm you do this, in your words this is hearsay, I have to trust your comments. I have simply asked can a prospective client get a copy of your full Terms and Conditions before they arrive at Rainbow Beach, as repeated below from my post#10 –

<<can your customers or those interested in dealing with your company get a copy of your full Terms and Conditions, (not what’s on your Agreement link) prior to arriving at Rainbow Beach, or are the full T’s & C’s on the contract, and I can assume they’re not available on the web>>

Jessica I am happy with my credibility and my responses, and wish that we can work together to make Fraser Island available and safe to all who wish to visit this jewel of the world, and I will not respond to this post any further.

Robert

Hi Karen, since you're staying at the Kingfisher Bay Resort, you might as well hire from Trax at the resort. That way you can decide whether to drive yourself or to take a tour, have a chat with the guys at the resort they'll be able to point you in the right direction. I have never used Trax, so I can't vouch for them.

I would recommend you take a tour if the track conditions have deteriorated.

Safe travels - Robert

Hope you guys have a great trip & new year.
