Port Douglas oct/nov

We are planning to travel cup weekend and just wondering what the weather is like at this time.

Also any recommendations for a resort near shops and restaurants suitable for a 2 and 6 year old.

Many thanks

Usually very pleasant weather then towards the end of our dry season (no mozzies!) and the temperature usually averages about 20C overnight to about 30C daytime. Sometimes November can start to see some afternoon storms building up, particularly towards the end of the month.

There are a number of resorts right in the centre of town, just pick something close to Macrossan Street which is where all the shops and most of the restaurants are. We like Mantra Heritage and also Club Tropical (ask for a refurbished room overlooking the pool and water garden - huge airy rooms, full kitchen on the verandah and very quiet while close to everything).
