Port Douglas is a pricey location, $120 p/n will not get you far. There are about 5 Mantra resorts in PD and they seem to have reasonable prices.

PD is a small township, almost everything is within a 10 minute stroll from the beach....

July is absolute peak season so I doubt very much you would get anything overlooking the beach for $120, however there is heaps of good accommodation 'just round the corner', literally a few minute's walk away. Try:-

Try a Rainforest Cosy Room at By The Sea in Macrossan Street. Very nice and not overly expensive at all, also about as beach front as you are going to get in Port Douglas.
