Markets and dances in Cairns/Port Douglas

We will be in the area for 10 days from 29th November and as well as doing all the touristy things (which we have sorted already with the helps of this forum - thanks to all) we would like to visit markets/craft fairs/school fetes/local events etc. We would also like to go to some rocknroll or similar dances (no hip hop, heavy metal or drum and base - we're too old!). Are there any RSL's or CT clubs in the area? We will have a hire car and a designated driver so travelling out of town a bit is no problem. Any info would be greatly appreciated

There is a batle of the bands thing happening at Cazaly Stadium 2nd Dec but not sure of the type of music.

There is Johnno's Blues Bar, near downtown.

My favourite club is the Yorkey's Knob Boating Club. Nice balcony area overloking the marina. Lovely place.

There is Brothers league club . Not far from town, a taxi would do the trick instead of having a designated driver. They have entertainment there so check their website.

You can also try

Also the local newspaper time out

As regard to market. I have noticed some churches etc adevrtising Christmas jumble sales. Not sure how you can check

Also go to Rusty's fruit and veg market on Sheridan Street for orange watermelon and the fresh lychee will be available by then. open Friday through Sunday.
