The Lakes - Booking and Payment

Just a bit of useful info if you're booking with the lakes.

They have now changed their booking policy and instead of charging you as soon as you make the booking, they charge the night before you arrive. This has changed with them but not on their automated booking system so it will say payment to be made in full at the time of booking, but really its the day before.

Heieup,

If you haven't already booked, I would suggest you book it from travelmall or travelonlinl. The rates and offers are far better than what you get by booking directlyat The Lakes . I saved $550 !!!

Hope this helps

Hi,

N ot sure if it's really sold out - check for similar dates in 2008 and 2008, they show every single day as Sold out!!! Check with the Travel Agent (TravelMall gives the best rates!). I'm sure they might be available in Jan 07. Good Luck!

Most hotels wont be showing prices for 2008 just yet.I used to think everything was sold out,but soon realised I was looking too early.

Sistermags - is Jan 2007 i'm looking at, not 2008.

3rd to 8th - am wondering if their packages are worthwhile now - breakfast and a day Reef trip and Forest trip?

We booked the 7 day package & if you take account of the 2 trips, transfers from airport , & 7 breakfasts included the actual rate for a 1 bedroom apt works out at about £50 a night which I think is great value.

It does look good value - as long as the trips are run well - thats the biggest worries, only there 5 nights so will only get 1 trip out to the Reef - want it to be a good one! Thanks for the tip on booking - will make an enquiry and see how it fairs against other online sites.

You can access the websites of the trip providers independently to check what they offer.Just Google the names of the providers from the Lakes website. I cannot remember their names at the moment. Both are big companies in Cairns. You might like a more specialised trip to the GBR than the one they offer which I think goes to Green island, but the Karunda trip is the one most people do.My husband is going to dive in Fiji rather than at the reef - we are just going to snorkle there.

Yeh, will see which companies they are.

Was in Oz 10 years ago for a round the world trip after uni - snorkelled on the GBR and in Figi. Was a bit overcast when we did the GBF so a little dissapointing.

Got me thinking about getting my divers license before i hit Oz.
