Cairns and GBR in December

Hi guys,

We are planning to go to Cairns in December. Can you at that time go diving on the reef?

I was in Cairns once and it was fantastic. We are coming from Europe and seeking the best place for diving in Australia. Thx

Yes, December diving is just great - waters are very warm and unless there is a tropical depression in the area, should be quite calm. It is cyclone season so be sure to do your homework and possibly purchase a good trip insurance policy if you end up booking a live aboard dive boat

Now, on to dive boats. To best optomize your diving, you should consider booking a live-aboard dive boat of 3 nights or longer. This way you will be able to dive Australia's Great Barrier Reef - Ribbon Reefs to the Cod Hole near Lizard Island, or to further extend your journey to the Coral Sea. The Cod Hole and Coral Sea can be done in 7 nights and is simply fantastic.

You must be a certified diver to partake in dives on these trips as they offer no intro dives due to staffing restrictions.

The top selling boats are Mike Ball Spoilsport from Cairns Mon or Thu, Spirit of Freedom from Cairns Mon or Thu, Taka from Cairns Tue or Fri and Undersea Explorer from Port Douglas Sat for 6 nights.

Hope this helps - please feel free to send questions
