Suggestions for 2 days in Brisbane without a car

We will have two days in Brisbane and planning to visit the Koala Sanctuary one of the days. We would love ideas for the remainder of that day and our second. We were considering going to Stradbroke Island on the second day. We would also appreciate ideas for a mid priced hotel in

Brisbane that is convenient to transportation to the Koala Sanctuary, restaurants, etc.

Hi - Stradbroke Island is besutiful and well worth a look but you will need a car to get around to see the good stuff. If you have a 4WD vehicle you can even drive on the beach. Another option in Brisbsne itself is the South Bank precinct which has its own beach with views of the city - very unique

Hi

The public transport system is good if you are staying close to the city. Use the citycat ferries. Take a ride to the university, get off, take a walk and see the great court and then back on the ferry. Don't miss the city hall & St Johns cathedral. Southbank parklands is a must. Without a car you will be limited so perhaps look for a guide.

Have a look at

http://www.visitbrisbane.com.au/things-to-do

If you do want a guide, Brisbane Greeters are great and free

I'd also suggest you get the ferry to the koala sanctuary and make it part of the days fun as you'll get the opportunity to see Brisbane from the river.

www.mirimar.com

There is also a HOHO bus

www.citysights.com.au

Hope this helps

Hi there

There are a few hotels near where Miramar cruise departs from, Rydges, Mantra. Or across the river at Treasury hotel & casino.

You won't have enough time to visit Steadbroke however you coukd do a day trip to Tangalooma Wild Dolphin resort.

Enjoy

The Eat Street Markets are a good evening visit. Take the Ferry to Bretts wharf. Every Fri and Sat nights. Selection of Hawker style food..live music and lively atmosphere. Stroll back to Ferry along the river and lots of bars and quality restaurants to also check out. Also Paddington for character buildings qld style and cafes. .shops and art..

I agree that without a car moreton island / tangalooma is a better bet. Take your swimming gear and watch out for sunburn. Tangalooma is nothing special but the island is great. You wont get far on foot but it is a relaxing day.

if gping to straddie check public transport times
