Public Transport around Brisbane

Coming over in Jan. How easy, safe and affordable is it to get around on public transport. I plan on doing all the normal touristy things from visiting Southbank Parklands, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and doing the occasional shopping spree. Is there a website available to look at timetables.

Lone Pines website shows how to get there by public transport ... http://www.koala.net/

It's easier and cheaper to get a GoCard than pay single fares ... translink.com.au/tickets-and-fares/go-card/b…

As to safety Brisbane is as safe as any city especially during the day ... it's not Detroit.

I take public transport here in Brisbane all the time, day and night, and have never had any problems more serious than the occasional minor annoyance. I wouldn't say PT here is particularly good, or cheap compared to a lot of places, but it's okay in and around the city/ inner suburbs. The buses are clean and airconditioned and as long as you use a Go-Card it's mostly pretty convenient. The Translink website is pretty good for trip planning and will tell you what fare you'll pay.
