Hotel Suggestions Please

Hello all TA's,

My husband, fifteen year old daughter and I have just one night in Brisbane (and two almost full days ) and would love your suggestions on a decent hotel - perhaps close to central station and southbank (not quite sure if they are close to each other. !). Decent meaning clean but most important is location as we are very short on time and would like to get a taste of Brisbane.

Thanks in advance.

It really depends on your budget and taste.

But if location and proximity to Central is important, then you really can't go past Sofitel Brisbane - it's located on top of Central Station.

Southbank isn't far, great place for a family, and there are numerous properties there also.

Above central railway station is the Sofitel and across the road is Rendezvous.

From central it is only two train stops to Southbank or you could walk from the hotel through Queen St mall across the bridge to Southbank. Say 25 mins walk..

Enjoy!

Try ... http://www.wotif.com/ ... for most hotels in Brisbane. You can view them on a map to check out access. Brisbane is quite a compact city, so the central district is not hard to get around on foot if necessary. There is only one rail line through so only two stations ... Central & Roma Street ... so you can choose to be near either or near Southbank.

We stayed at the Hilton, which was nice, but pricey. It's on Queen St and quite walkable to South Bank. Also to Eagle Pt, which is a similar type of area with restaurants and such.
