Area for family stay in Brisbane

We are planning to stay in Brisbane one week with kids (4 to 12 years).

Is Fortitude Valley, New Farm or Spring Hill are good areas to stay?

avoid all three areas with children. the valley is the clubbing area, newfarm is too far from the city and spring hill is by and large a commercial area now. if you have kids stay at southbank (rydges or saville).

New Farm is only far from the City if you actually want to go the the City, otherwise it's got lots of restaurants and parks, ferries to the City etc.

Redcliffe's pretty good too if proximity to the City isn't important.

Course if your flexible forget Brisbane altogether and go to the Gold Coast. Not a big fan myself but the kids love the theme parks. Movieworld, Seaworld, Dreamworld
