Overnight getaway from Brisbane?

Hi,

I am wondering where do people from Brisbane go to get away from the city for a short break?

We will be travelling from Noosa to Brisbane late-December, and are considering an overnight stopover on the way.

So far, we have looked at Maleny and Montville, but most places don't seem to accept bookings of less than two nights. We have a week in Noosa, so quite like the idea of staying in the hills/ countryside before spending a couple of nights in the city. Any suggestions?

Another option, and backup plan, is to book an extra (third) night in Brisbane...

Thanks

Well ... loads of people would go to Noosa for a short break and you are already there.

If you can't get a single night in the hinterland I'm not sure what you can do ... you could take a day off your Noosa stay? Apart from those areas your only other option is more beachside accommodation. If you want to extend the travel time a bit what about the Mount Tamborine area?

Heading north up to the Sunshine coast is the most common escape. Gold Coast tends to be a bit.... over-run, so locations like Noosa and Maroochydore tend to be the places to head to as they are beachy and chilled.

Other than that, not so far out of Brisbane you've got Maleny and Montville. A gorgeous country side location where you can find many wonderful B&Bs.

Cheers Scott. Just trying to find somewhere nice in Maleny or Montville that will have us for one night. If no go, we'll head to Brisbane a day earlier.

Hi,

Have you looked around Lake Baroon, or just outside the lake. Not sure of the date you're travelling through the area, there maybe an availability at the accommodation below for 1 night, depends on your budget as well.

If you want a "getaway in Brisbane" check out Spicers Balfour at Newfarm. It offers a unique experience right in the heart of the city, and they do one night stays. You could try the Spicers properties at Montville/Maleny too - but not sure on minimum nights.

I like Rob's suggestion, and I will add that for something else off the beaten track, try Lake Somerset Safari Tents or Cabins...again, not sure of minimum nights.

Cheers.

Alternatively, why not spend a night in Caloundra - a lovely beach experience very differnt from Noosa. You could look at Rumba Resort at Bulcock Beach, or Rolling Surf at Kings Beach, or myriad other properties in both locations. Many would accept one night stays, and the coastal walk from Bulcock Beach to Currimundi is absolutely gorgeous (of course, you dont have to do all of it)

Cheers
