Brisbane engineering

We're thinking of moving to Brisbane, and coming to visit in April.

My husband is a manufacturing engineer and would hopefully find work in the area,..

is there any general industrial area in or near Brisbane?

whats the area like for employing engineering workers?

would the location of the industry make a differnce to what suburbs we could choose to live in with regard to getting to work etc? i will be looking to move to a nice family suburb with good schools / parks etc.

Thanks MM

Hi there,

Welcome to Brisvegas.

Some suburbs that have industrial areas include Runcorn, Rocklea, Murrarrie, Hemmant, Eagle Farm to name a few.

There are plenty of nice suburbs close to these areas.

carol park, darra and archerfield are quite industrial too.

Good place to look for a job is seek.com.au

prob better off staying somewhere close to work if possible, don't really want to spend all your time travelling to work do ya?

Plenty of options, but find the job and then the location will make itself known. You can find good areas and schools within 5-10min reach of the industrial areas, although you wouldn;t live in the same suburb.

Many engineers are chasing the $$$ of working in the mining industry in central and NW QLD, so that may or may not give opportunities in Brisbane.
