Kings Canyon on way into Uluru or out???

We are trying to decide whether to go to KingsCanyon on our way into Uluru or back out???? Coming in from Coober Pedy then going on to Alice???? Travelling in December......

It depends a lot on what you are driving. If it is a 2wd then your only option is the one way in along Lasserters Highway then turn north to Kings Canyon and return the same way so either way will require an overnight stop at Kings Canyon and so long as you leave it by early afternoon you will reach either Alice Springs or Uluru by dusk.

If you have a 4wd then you may wish to go to Uluru first then to Kings Canyon then on to Alice Springs via the Meenie Loop road but you will need a permit first to travel it Google it to see the different places where you can get a permit.

There is also another track from Kings Canyon to the Stuart Highway, it was in poor condition and suitable only to high clearance 4WD but check the NT road reports before you come as the recent rains may have damaged it further and it may not have been graded by December.
