macquarrie signs? Insignia?

Hello,

Finally getting an opportuniity to make it to Sydney and would get a kick out of taking pictures of anything with the name Macquarie, seeing that its my name.

Anyone have any landmarks, signs you can think of? I know I'll be going to Mrs. Macquarie's chair... but whatever you can think of - I'll be posting it to family.

Cheers.

Macquarie Street is note & photo worthy.

Lachlan Macquarie was one of the early governors of NSW.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lachlan_Macquarie

If you have time to venture west of the CBD, there are five 'Macquarie' towns: Windsor, Richmond, Wilberforce, Castlereagh and Pitt Town. Parramatta also has a close association with Governor Macquarie.

All of the towns are littered with references to Macquarie: streets, buildings etc

I guess you're interested in the name Macquarie and not necessarily Lachlan Macquarie, so here goes with a few more...

Macquarie University (in the north-western suburbs, accessible by train)

Macquarie Park railway station (on the line that goes to said Uni)

Macquarie Fields (outer-western suburb, also accessible by train).

Macquarie Bank is an investment bank and it does not have a big branch network, since they mainly deal with the big end of town. However they do have a big office building in Martin Place. There is also Macquarie University but that is out in the suburbs. It is up to you whether you think it is worth making the long trip.

And you'll need to head south to Tassie to find Macquarie Island, Macquarie Harbour and (one of several) Macquarie Rivers.

You could get yourself a copy of the Macquarie Dictionary or visit Port Macquarie or Lake Macquarie.

Old Government House in Parramatta is the former home of NSW Governor Macquarie and open to the public.
