Regarding Best tours of Blue Mountains and Javolin Caves

Hi there,

We are planning to make 3 days tour in Mid October for Blue Mountain and Javolin Caves. Our Idea is to Initially go by Car and get an accomodation in Blue Mountain. From there get any tour option for both Blue mountain and Javolin Caves. Please advise which tours option will be best and which are best attractions for two night and three days trip for Blue Mountain and Javolin caves.

Thanks

Ruchi

I think you mean Jenolan caves. Most tours for Jenolan Caves originate from Sydney.

Using the train to get to the Blue Mountains is pretty easy, and straight forward from Sydney, but there is no train to the Jenolan Caves.

If you rent a car in Sydney, you can still drive to Blue Mountains, stay the two nights in Leura or Katoomba, then take a day trip to Jenolan Caves. Then you can use the Bell's Line of Road to return to Sydney.

Where else will you be driving? I do not see the need for a car if you will be taking tours once you arrive?

Conversely, there is no need to take tours if you have a car. On your full day drive to Jenolan Caves and take your time without being pressured by deadlines for the bus.

3 days, or 2-3 days, >>Our Idea is to Initially go by Car and get an accomodation in Blue Mountain. From there get any tour option<<

Are you saying you want to drive to the Blue Mountains and then take tours?

Depending on the days of the week the roads to Katoomba can be very busy. With 3 days I suggest you take the train to Katoomba. They depart Sydney every hour. There is local transport around Katoomba to all of the major sights. Jenolan Caves is a day trip from Katoomba and can be taken with a local tour company. Make the booking when you arrive in Katoomba. Your hotel should be able to assist.

Thanks Joan, Matt, Macknee, LesS for your responses, i did more research .. since we are based in parramatta we were planning to go to blue

mountains by car, stay in Leura or Katoomba (as mentioned by Joan)

Day 1: Local Siteseeing in Blue Mountains.

Day 2: Jenolan Caves Tour. Come back to hotel.

Day 3: Rest of siteseeing if anything is left.

my questions are:

1) Any suggestions for attractions of blue mountains. Should we take a guided tour or just by ourselves.

2) For Jenolan caves, should we go via car or take a tour? can the tour be purchased once we reach there or pre-booked?

3) Do we really need 3rd day at all or can we back after doing jenolan caves tour. we dont want to miss any important sites in blue

mountains too.

4) We are open to going to blue mountains via train too. What would you suggest?

Mostly tours that i searched were same day tour from sydney to bluemountain/jenolan caves and back. We are traveling with parents so dont

want it to be too stressful.

Thanks

IMO a car would not suit you. Take the train to Katoomba. Take the hoho bus around. Take a tour out to the caves. The transport providers will cover the important places so you don't have to work it out.

The benefit of going to Jenolan Caves by car is that you can do it at your own pace and not feel herded around like cattle.

The disadvantage is that the road is windy and narrow in places. If you don't have much experience driving on Australian country roads it could be tricky.
