And for cheap junky, 'Made in China' stuff like stuffed toy koalas and fridge magnets try Paddy's Market in Chinatown at the southern end of the CBD.

The top floor of Woolworths opposite Town Hall has cheap tacky souvenirs too, if the Paddy's Market hours don't suit. Teatowels, stuffed animals, flags and $2 I heart Sydney t-shirts (last time I was there).

5. Re: Souvenir shops

Pretty much all of the souvenirs I've seen in "souvenir" shops are as Eva described.

For Aussies products, try these:

Ken Done - 1-5 Hickson Road, The Rocks - http://kendone.com.au/

The Rocks Markets - the Saturday and Sunday Markets are big - quite a few affordable Aussie souvenirs from wood products to hand made jewellery, books, coasters, prints etc etc

This link below to The Rocks has a lot of information about shopping and souvenirs available in that area - therocks.com/sydney-Getting_Here_and_Around.…

Australian Geographic - not at The Rocks but according to their website, Bondi Junction would be accessible - or buy on line - their magazine subscriptions are terrific IMO - …australiangeographic.com.au/Stores-W13.aspx

Further up town if you have time, and if you don't want "the norm" re souvenirs, there are a few shops in the Strand Arcade between King and Market Streets (access the Arcade from George Street or the Pitt Street Mall) ... eg Haigh's chocolates, leather goods etc - http://www.strandarcade.com.au/about-us
