Private wedding venue suggestions?

Hi,

My daughter is planning to get married in or around Sydney next year. She would like a totally private venue (only wedding guests around) that has excellent food and hopefully a lovely garden setting. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Her spec would be a Romantic, intimate and informal venue for 50 guests

A lot of the places we have checked seem to be open to the public even during weddings which she doesn't want.

Ideally she would like something within (at the most) a two hour drive of the city if possible. Even a small hotel that we could take over for the day and a couple of nights could be fine.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for your help!

It would depend entirely on your budget. I know of numerous restaurants and function venues, that caters entirely private if there was agreeable expenditure.

A few I'd suggest would be;

Vaucluse House, Gunners Barracks, Curzon Hall, Taronga Centre.

Have you looked at function guides in the Southern Highlands also?

Some of the most beautiful manors and guesthouses in Australia there

The deckhouse in Woolwich, right on the harbour may be a really good option. The location is fantastic, and the food and service that I have experienced at functions there is outstanding. www.deckhousewoolwich.com.au

Thank you for the tip on Southern Highlands, it's not an area we had heard of and looks lovely.

She is checking out Summerleas and Bendooley next weekend. Both look beautiful.

Curzon Hall also looks interesting.

Anna - the Deckhouse is certainly somewhere we will check out for a meal but for her wedding she wants gardens, trees and flowers.

I really appreciate the help - thank you!

Have you looked at Athol Hall in Mosman? Very popular for the kind of wedding you describe.

hi,

My daughter got married in September last year at Sergents Mess at Chowder Bay which is gorgeous overlooking Sydney Harbour & the food is awesome. Many couples get married here too on the front lawn.

Their other venues are also very nice - Gunners at Mosman & Dunbar House at Watsons Bay. The only problem is getting into these places as most are booked out for a year.

Has anyone been to a wedding and reception at Summerlees in the Southern Highlands? We are going to check it out soon. Any other suggestions for a private garden wedding?

Ellemay (above) gets my vote. if you have a decent budget then dont rule out Catalina Restaurant at Rose Bay (at lunch time preferably) or Lucio's at Paddington for such an occasion.

You dont really want a 2 hour drive for guests. there is much on offer in metropolitan Sydney.
