Advice needed please

Hi

We are visiting Sydney in June, we have 5 nights there before we fly to Cairns to get married. We like he idea of hiring a car for a couple of days to visit the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley etc.......my question is should we do day trips and return to Sydney or stay overnight in the vicinity of the Blue Mountains. Any advice/recommendations would be great!!

Thanks Elaine

I think if you really want to explore the Blue Mountains including Jenolan Caves, you would be best to stay overnight. However, if you leave early, get to Katoomba around 10am you could definately see the 3 sisters, Leura, take the skyrail etc and come back to Sydney in 1 day. Go on to the website:

www.bluemountainstourism.org.au if only to listen to the kookaburras!! Now the Hunter may depend on if you plan to do some heavy duty wine tasting or not.

Pepe is right you can see a lot in the one day without staying over night in the Blue Mtns, but since you are coming to Aus to get married, why not add a bit of romance and stay at Peppers Leura (it might also be called the Fairmont). It is a nice place, has a cozy bar with fireplace which is great because it will be quite cold by June, so you can snuggle up together. A few other nice hotels in the area are Lillianfells, and the Hydro Majestic. And it gets you out of the busy-ness of Sydney for a day.

Whilst staying in Sydney in November we made a day trip to the Hunter Valley and had an overnight stay at The Hunter Valley Country Cabins - great place to stay look up the website(www.huntervalleycabins.com.au).

This was an ideal stop over as we had been on a Boutique Wineries tour and did not have to worry about driving until the next morning. Whilst here, we visited The Hunter Valley Gardens which were beautiful and then made our way on to Port Stephens and back home to Sydney. This took us two full days.

Could be an idea for you..
