Limit on the number of people in a room

Does anyone know if their is a restriction on the number of people that can stay in a hotel room? Can you have, say, 10 of you with sleeping bags and sleep on the floor? I'm going to carols in the domain and my friends and i would like to stay in a hotel overnight afterwards, but as cheaply as possible.

Yes there is, most hotels have a maximum of 3 adults (some will only allow 2) or 2 adults 1 child. It is usually on their website.

Do they check? Yes, epecially after events in the city, especially if they see sleeping bags!

The most I have ever heard of is as Guruswife stated above. Or confugurations of 3 adults and one child or 2 adults and one child. Bearing in mind that when we had a family room my son aged 15 was counted as an adult. My child under 12 was still counted as a child.

As for sleeping ten in a room I've never ever heard of that!!!
