Apartments in Sydney

We currently have a room booked in December at the Mercure Hotel Sydney Airport.

My parents are joining us on this trip, so we have 2 separate rooms booked.

I'm now starting to think that maybe it would be better (and around the same cost) if we got a 2 bedroom apartment.

And although we have stayed at the Mercure before and never had a problem, staff was friendly etc. I'm starting to think it would be nicer to stay closer to the city, especially for my parents who have never been to Australia before.

The Mercure is handy for the airport.

So right now I have a list of apartments and wondered if anybody has any feedback on them.

Star City Hotel

Trendwest Suites Sydney

Saville Park Suites Chatswood

Pacific International Apartments

Oaks Maestri Towers

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks

Pacific International Apartments are very tired - filthy carpets at the moment and furniture a bit ratty - best avoid this one

Star City 2br apts get really good reviews and very good location but at the casino if this is a problem?

Oaks Maestri - the Oaks group of apartment hotels are doing very well. Keeping up standards etc - as I have not seen this particular place, I would bet that unless the property manager is not doing their job, the name Oaks will carry the property well and you could count on the quality.

hi there

we stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment at the Oaks Mastri - family of four. It was spacious, and clean. it is in Darling Harbour and only a few minutes walk to the nearest bus stop or underground train system to get to Circular Quay. To walk there it took approx. 20 - 25 minutes. we requested a Darling Harbour view which we got. cost wise would be cheaper than 2 separate hotel rooms.

hope this helps.

We always stay in the Star City apartments. They are spacious, with two bathrooms, lovely sitting/dining room, full kitchen and laundry facilities. They are nicely furnished, and immaculately kept.

It is possible to walk to anywhere in the city centre from here, but public transport is available too. You can get the ferry to Circular Quay, or the monorail or the tram (which has a stop right underneath the hotel). There are plenty of lovely places to eat in Darling Harbour.

Hope you enjoy your trip.

Stayed in a 3 bedroom at Meriton Tiffiany on Pitt st. and loved the apt.It was outfitted with the best appliances and was well furnished. Paid 225 for 3 bedromm. Obtained this rate om wotif.com, then phoned with my dates and was given the same rate. We walked everywhere we needed to go.

We have the Medina Grand Harbourside Apartments book in Darling Harbor. Haven't stayed there yet but it looks nice. We have a 2 bedroom apt booked. Plus it is right in Darling Harbor near the attractions. And its mentioned in the Fordor's Australian 2005 book. Can't be all that bad. If we get back before you leave I will post reviews for things.

Thank you everyone for the feedback.

It really came down to 3 apartments - Oaks Maestri, Star City and the one I didn't think of but someone here recommended was the Medina Apartments.

I checked them all out and discussed it with dh and we booked a 2 bedroom apartment at Star City. The reviews on trip advisor (and the person who responded saying they have stayed there) was the biggest deciding factor on why we chose them.

Nice to have that settled :-)

Now I have to cancel our reservations at the Mercure Sydney Airport.

Thanks again!

Check out www.wotif.com.au and go to the Merition World Tower. We have stayed there and it is the best place we have ever stayed in Sydney. Fantastic view from the 63rd floor. Our UK visitors were blown away.

I say yes to Star City the apartments there are very nice however you must ask for a quiet room as there can be noise problems.

I say no to Saville Park Suites Chatswood!!! I live near there it is too much of a hassle to stay there if you want to be near city it is a good 20 minutes drive into city and that's when traffic is good.

Maybe check-out the Medina Grand in Coackle Bay and the Quay West in The Rocks I think. Both also good and well situated.
