Train or bus from Sydney to Jervis Bay

We want to take a weekend trip from Sydney to Jervis Bay. We don't want to drive so is there a train or bus we can take. The hotel is apparently in the middle of everything so once there we don't need a car.

Where is the hotel (name) ? Public transport in that area is minimal with everybody using a car.

Nowra Bus meets the train at Bomaderry (3 hours from Central) and then a 1.5 hour trip to Huskisson = 4.5 hours of travel to get there. And the bus mainly works Monday to Friday with only 2 services on Sat/Sun.

Easiest and best thing is to hire a car and drive there.

I agree with dytokyo 100%.

In addition to the difficulties of getting to Jervis Bay by public transport, there's also the issue of getting around while you are there.

If 'in the middle of everything' means near the Husky Pub,then you'll want to get to the beaches at some time - The white sands at Hyams Beach are a 'must see'. Then there's the national park to explore. All of this needs a car. Jervis Bay is not a small village but a large spread out area that really needs a car to be fully appreciated.

Hotel is in the main drag and walkable to shops and restaurants and by beach. But I'm seeing that there doesn't seem to be any way to get there directly via public transportation so it may not be worth doing a weekend there.

Definitely not on a weekend. The trains to Bomaderry (Nowra) run frequently but getting to and from Huskisson your public transport options are virtually non-existent. There is no Uber in the area and a taxi would cost over $100 each way (conservative estimate).

The only other option I can suggest is Jervis Bay airport express - a shuttle bus that does pick ups and drop offs at Bomaderry station to points south.

You don't need to be going to the airport to use it. They could pick you up in Sydney and drop you at your door in Huskisson.

As others have said bit hard to get to.

If you look in your search engine for Premier Coaches they run long the coast. They stop at lots of places.

Another option might be Kiama for The weekend.

Good Luck

@ JohnListon - Premier coaches nearest stop is Wandandian - they don't go off the Princes Highway.

Forget Jervis Bay for a weekend without a car. There are many easier places - Wollongong, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Newcastle.
