1. Re: Where to Eat???

This is a good sized coastal resort city reliant on tourist dollars so no lack of choices depending on budget.

There are a number of eateries near the marina as well as in the main part of town. Ex Services club in town is pretty good for club food. Also, on Ocean Pde just to the north of town there is a bowls club which does reasonable club food and just across the road is an excellent value Thai restaurant. And I seem to remember a schnitzel place on the Pacific Hwy near the Clog Barn that has been there forever (had lunch there, good value, good quality).

Further afield there are places in Sawtell & some nice cafes in Bellingen (good lunches, didn't use for dinner).

Have fun!

The Greenhouse Tavern on the Pacific Highway is very child friendly.

They also have a playroom with video games and TV. They also have special kids eat free nights (can get packed) Most kids meals have free icecream.

Also there is Mangrove Jacks at The Promanade, overlooks the creek which also has fish feeding from there. Not sure about kids meals.

Deep Sea Fishing Club out on Jordan Esplanade, also great for kids.

The Pet Porpoise Pool and Butterfly House also have food available, so you can tie in a visit there with a meal.

There are plenty of other places to eat, most of the Clubs and RSLs have special child deals.

Hope that helps

The Fisherman's Co-op at the marina area does good fish and chips, and you can sit and watch the boats come in as you eat, and then take a walk up Muttonbird Island and work off the chips. The view from the top of the Island is good, and during the right season, you often see whales from the other side of the Island.

The strip of restaurants at the jetty area are pretty good as well. For lunch, there is a good lot of cafes in the middle of town in City Square.

A new coffee bar called Piccolos has just opened near Big W in the Palms Shopping Centre. It has really great coffee.
