I can't help much either. About the only place I can think of known for cocktails is Muddle Bar in the City:

Most bars will serve cocktails of varying quality, especially those in hotels. So you could also try places like the Hyatt or Crowne Plaza, but they will be expensive.

maybe just a walk around kingston, manuka or the city will find u a place.

the locals are pretty friendly.

just dont be put of by the "what dept do u work for and at what level" question. ;-)

The Canberra Casino is immediately adjacent to the Crowne Plaza. There will be a cocktail bar.

Staying at the CP - wander up into the mall & find O'Reilly's Irish Pub for a relaxed atmosphere. A popular spot, it always has a good crowd.

Hi,

Hey all you Canberrans you make us look boring !! Like there's nowhere to go and nothing to do , and no class or taste. O'Reillys? are you serious? !!! The nearest thing to a cocktail you'll get at that dive is a foamy head on your Guinness.

Jonah try these in the city:

There's soju girl on Northbourne Ave: http://sojugirl.com.au/ (very nice...)

Pelagic in Baileys Arcade (not sure if it's still open, but he was a damn good bartender).

Diamant Hotel has a great cocktail bar: www.8hotels.com/canberra-hotel/diamant-hotel/

Kremlin Bar is ok if you want to check out the tinselled up locals: http://www.kremlinbar.com.au/

enjoy!

rroger, even if your post was too late for OP it is great for a reference.

IMHO Irish bars are something you do....in ireland...for the rest of the world its just tourist stuff....is it up the mall or down?..cos it's across northbourne (or has it moved) and I always associate that direct in Canberra with down. IMHO experience of the area it becomes very rough at times. Bt like doing the irish bars in sydney. only ever see tourists there..

The bar at realm is OK (just) if you are on that side and there are a few options in Manuka (Verve, Vive?)
