Can you get any type of weekly family tourist bus pass?

We are planning on being in Canberra for about a week and I was wondering if there is any kind of weekly tourist bus pass for families?

Or is driving and parking easy around Canberra?

The bus service in Canberra is called ACTION (Australian Capital Territory Internal Omnibus Network). As far as I know they don't have a weekly tourist type pass. You can however buy a pre-loaded $20 ticket from newsagents and the like.

Maps and schedules etc can be found on their website:

https://www.action.act.gov.au/

There is also a "Hop-on Hop-off" tour called Canberra Explorer. Their website is:

http://www.canberradaytours.com.au/

Most locals would advise against taking public buses to attraction. Generally speaking Canberra is easy to drive around and there is free parking at many of the main attractions (most attractions also have free entry). As it is a planned city, the roads are generally wide and well sign-posted, and there is not much traffic by usual city standards.

Most of the attractions are quite wide-spread, and you would probably find it time consuming and even difficult to use public transport to see them. Because of the way the bus system runs, using "hubs", you would have to catch 2 or 3 buses on most occasions between sights.

The only issue interstate visitors sometimes have is that the city is designed in a circular fashion, and has a lot of roundabouts, so it can be a bit confusing if you are used to grid layout like most cities. Then again, it is one of the things that makes our city unique, so it is part of experiencing the capital. As I said, traffic is not usually too heavy, so that helps when you are trying to work out how to get where you are going.

Thankyou so much for that. It sounds like driving ourselves will be the way to go. We live in a small city that has managed to live with round-abouts and no traffic lights so we don't mind round-abouts at all.
