For a weekend...??

Sydney to the Sunshine Coast is a long train trip involving 2 trains and i would suggest a minimum of 14 hours travel...a bit like going from frankfurt to London I would think or frankfurt to the South of italy...then of course anothe 14 hours to return.

For a weekend trip out of Sydney you would be better considering Port Stephens

or Jervis bay if you want coastal..

or Fly...

AS G/W mentioned the Sunshine Coast is a long way to drive for a weekend. You are better to catch a flight to Coolangatta (Gold Coast) its just a 5 min taxi ride from the airport to Coolangatta village. You can also get cheap flights if you search around.

Try www.flightcentre.com.au - to see if they have anything going...

our domestic flights - www.jetstar.com.au www.virginblue.com.au www.qantas.com.au

The other options is to catch the bus to Port Stephens.

or you could just catch a train from central to Kiama on the South Coast - quaint coastal village.

Train to Canberra (capital city ). - interesting.

Train to Bowral - Southern Highlands.

Train to the Blue Mountains.
