Castle in Montechiaro

Hello All. I've been looking around the web, but can't find some simple information about visiting the castle in Palma di Montechiaro. The online Michelin travel site says it's free, though they say other arch. attractions are free that reviewers have been good enough to post admission info on, and the town's website does not indicate admission price or hours for that attraction. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Maybe people can't go inside? Perhaps that is why no one has reviewed the castle on this site? Finding the same for the San Carlo Tower has been equally challenging.

If anyone has info on this, please pass it along!

Hi DanStac,

You can enter the castle and it's free, although there's not much inside, but the views from the castle are stunningly beautiful!

Thanks Vagabonda, good to have confirmation on these things, if you should find anything about the hours that it is open, would you be so kind as to forward them as well?

I found that the Ducal Palace is open M-F 9-13:30 and T, TR 16:00-18:00.

Hi DanStac,

During summer, the Castello di Palma di Montechiaro is open on Sundays for Mass at 8.30.

At any other time, you would contact the Comune di Palma di Montechiaro (0922 799111) with a request to visit, and the Comune di Palma di Montechiaro would sent an operatore to the castle for your visit.

Thank you again for the info Vagabonda. It is unfortunate that the castle doesn't have regular hours of visit/operation, since we have no idea when/if we would be passing through, it would seem almost impossible to get up a tour beforehand. Ah, well, can enjoy from the outside instead!

Prego DanStac,

The castle isn't a prime tourist attraction, so it wouldn't have regular hours of operation.

You could enjoy it from the outside, but I would encourage you enter, not so much for the interior, but to climb to the top for the most stunning views of the coast and sea.

Perhaps when you have a clearer idea of your schedule, your hotel the night prior could ring the comune for you, and then arrange a custodian to meet you at the castle.
