Tulare to Big Sur

We made resevations at the Big Sur campgeounds and I was wondering what is the best way to go. 198 to 101 to salinas and then over to hwy1. There is a Carmel valley road that would cut out going through Salinas? Is that a good road? Any info would be greatly appreciated

To access Carmel Valley Road, you would have to take the Arroyo Seco/G16 exit from Highway 101 in the town of Greenfield. It's a windy, remote road, so can't say if it would save you time, but I hear it's a nice drive.
