bus from Las Palmas to Maspalomas sand dunes

Hi, I will be in Las Palmas for a day by

the cruise ship. I wonder which bus I should take

to go from Los Palmas to Maspalomas?

Where to board the bus in Los Palmos (I will

be coming from the cruise terminal, is it

within walking distance? Or I have to get

another bus to get there?)?

Also, once I get to Maspalomas, how do I get

the sand dunes reserve? Is it walking distance?

Do I need to join tour or is it easy accessible

to see the sand dunes? How long is the traveling

time between 2 places and how often does the

bus run? Is it doable in a few hours?

Thanks for any advice/information.

Bus number 30 and 50 will take you to Maspalomas. How many hours do you have on Gran Canaria. I do not know if it is worth it. Buses go severeal times each hour, but with waiting, walking in the dunes and actual bus time I would say at least 4 hours.

Las Palmas is a great city with lots to offer. Maybe I can give some suggestions on what to do in the city if you give some feedback on what you like to do.

To see the dunes you do not need a guide.

Espengc,

Thanks for your quick response. I have about

7 hr in Las Palmas. I was thinking about the sand

dune because I like taking pictures.

I also like nature beauty & good scenery.

I also like to visit local market to

take pictures too. Seems like

Las Palmas does have a few places that I can

visit too, that is why I would like to know

how much time I need for the trip to the sand dunes, and save a few hours for Las Palmas.

So the bus trip from Las Palmas to Maspalomas

takes about 1 hr one way? or less?

Where do I take the bus? (the closet station from

the cruise ship terminal?)

Do you think it is worthwhile for the time?

Grand Canary is a big island, so with only

7 hr, I will have to pick and choose where to

go to. Any advice?

By the way, how would the weather like in end

of Mar?

Thanks.

Bus number 30 takes you direct to Maspalomas and the Dunes. Takes about 40 minutes and leaves from Santa Catalina which is a fifteen minute walk from the harbor. It is easy to find, just ask information at the harbor.

Last stop is Faro Maspalomas where you have the lighthouse and you will have easy access to the dunes.

In Las Palmas:

Pueblo Canario, a 3,500m2 park, with traditional canary architecture, parks, restaurants and a museum dedicated to the designer and one of the great artists of Gran Canaria Nestor Torre. You should get some great pictures.

In, Vegueta, the old town you can find:

Casa Colon, museum, dedicated to C. Columbus´ journeys to America.

Museo Canario, museum, where you can discover the pre Spanish history of the Canary islands.

Santa Ana, cathedral and museum,

Centro Atlantico, modern art,

Cemetry Vegueta, for a different experience with tombs dating 150 years back.

Food Market,

Next to Vegueta is Triana:

The newly renovated theather, Perez Galdos, is worth a visit.

The main shopping street which leads you to San Telmo park. Nice cafés and restaurants and always lively.

Playa de Las Canteras, the main beach of Las Palmas.

Just a few suggestions. And all of them should give some great opportunities for photos.

Thanks a lot for the information.

For the bus schedule, do I read it as leaving

Santa Catalina at :05, :25, :45 each hour,

that is 3 bus per hour?

Yes, three times an hour. The ones marked in yellow and blue leave from an other station so you cannot use them.

Public transport is very good here in Gran Canaria.
