Hotel San Eloy - responsible parents

Hi everybody,

We are considering booking the San Eloy for the 2nd week in October. After visiting several review sites it appears to tick all the right boxes, with about 95% of people recommending it very highly.

However, most comments also stress how wonderful it is for children, which implies that it is usually heaving with them. Equally, there were no adverse comments about childrens behaviour either. We have no objection to kids in general but as we are in our 40's it would be nice to have some child-free space, ie bar or lounge in the evenings.

We had a bad experience at an all-inclusive hotel in Alcudia last year where some parents, who were obviously at the bottom end of the evolutionary scale, allowed their children to run riot from morning till midnight - including giving them alcoholic drinks. The result was the kids were drunk and the parents (who were equally drunk) thought it hilarious. Several guests complained but the staff seemed powerless to stop it.

Can anyone please advise on the policy at the San Eloy and what their experience has been? We assume that during the 2nd week of October most kids would be in school anyway?

We're not old farties really, we just ask that people take their parental responsibilities seriously, with consideration for others.

Many thanks in anticipation of some helpful or reassuring comments.

We.. family of three (one 7 years old now) visited the San Eloy late August 2006 and we are going back same time this year.

Mainly because of the value for money but also because we enjoyed Tossa de Mar.

Hotel itself... food is excellent for what you pay and bar staff are 'over-worked' - we found a small tip on a couple of nights when lots of bar staff were on worked wonders when trying to get served !! the bar staff sound a 'hooter' for every tip - one 'hoot' per €. Entertainment was excellent

There are a couple of 'howevers'....

1. A lot depends our fellow Brits and their behaviour... if you get a well behaved bunch then you'll be fine... get the families from hell and it could be 'hell' !

2. The bees/wasps... there's 1,000's of 'em but they should not be there in Oct... anyway, we only heard of one person being stung and maybe it was just our paranioa of the buzzy things!

Lastly, to answer your question... underage drinking?... didn't notice this as most kids we observed were drinking soft drinks but we were, in the main, lucky/... no real 'families from hell' there.

One last point to note is that the hotel does not solely cater for the British and there were other nationalities there... which was good.
