No train, there are buses from Vila Real Stº António.

A day trip by bus is not possible. The earliest arrival is at 1300, the last bus back is at 1615 and these are to/from Vila Real de Santo Antonio, about 10 minutes by local bus from Monte Gordo,

if you are feeling very brave, you can do a trip by ferry Vila Real to Ayamonte (across the river that forms the border) and then take a bus from Ayamonte to Seville.

You can get the bus times in Spain at www.movelia,es

A taxi from Monte Gordo to Vila Real shouldn'ty cost too much if you are too late/too early for a bus. The ferries start at about 815am and finish at about 630pm, which again means you have to leave Seville around 4pm!

Ayamonte would be your best bet. When we travelled from seville to Tavira the bus stopped for a break in Ayamonte and the journey from there was quite long.Knowing you are so close

Try an organized trip, bookable at several travel agents in Monte Gordo. You will meet up with a coach early morning, which has collected passengers at different places along the Algarve. Takes about 90 minutes to reach Seville where you get a short sightseeing tour. You'll then be dropped off to spend a few hours on your own before returning mid-afternoon.

Alternatively make use of the other suggestions, but stay overnight.
