According to my husband the river in Flåm is protected and fishing is not allowed . You could of course try your luck in the fjord - with the appropriate tackle.

Norwegian rivers are generally privately owned and fishing is a privilege of the owner (typically belongs to the farm along the river). So you need to obtain a permit from the owner. Such permits are often sold via an agent, for instance the local tourist information office.

Near Ålesund there are a couple of nice salmon/trout rivers, notably at Åndalsnes/Rauma (also famous for the surroundings), Valldal river and Bondal river (Ørsta district).

Fly fishing in the city is not quite what you can do, but if you venture out into the countryside from Bergen there are places you can fish for salmon trout in the sea - no permit needed.

You can fish in Aurland - only 10 kilometres from Flåm. Contact

Voss river used to be a good salmon/trout river, don't know now. The river reaches the sea at Bolstad, and includes Evanger lake and the Voss lake. Above Voss village the river has several arms almost reaching Flåm.

You will need a fishing licence to go fishing in the rivers or in the lakes.

For fishing in rivers and lakes you need a permit (from owner) and a licence (annual fee to the governement).

Fishing in sea (saltwater) is free with fishing rods and similar tools.
