Cadiz in October

Considering staying at the Parador in Cadiz for a week next month. Anyone got experience of this, city centre restaurant recommendations, info on taxi/ bus services?

Thanks,

Jerry

We were in Cadiz mid-October in 2003 as a stop during a cruise. City is very compact - easy to walk and bus/taxi services everywhere. Weather was gorgeous - shirt sleeves during the day, light jacket at night. Watch out for holidays when everything is closed. Ate at El Faro restaurant - excellent. Hike up to top of cathedral tower is worth it - outstanding views. Hire a car and and take day trips to Jerez de la Frontera, Seville, Ronda, and other small towns.

We were in Cadiz province for a week in Feb, touring. Jerez has sherry bedegas (go on a tour) and Riding School (performances Thurs am and brilliant even if you're not that keen on horses). El Puerto de Santa Maria and Sanlucar are also interesting. From Sanlucar boat across to Donana National Park, wetlands, woodland, desert, shore. Worth a trip (prebooking recommended). The coast south of Cadiz down to Tarifa is fabulous. Still largely unspoiled. Roman ruins by the beach at Bolonia just north of Tarifa .Visit white villages inland and white town Arcos de la Frontera. We had lunch in parador there with regional specialities. Ronda is a bit further but really worth the trip. Seville also but that needs more than a day trip.
