Who can help me find information about visiting hours and days of Castel Sant'Angelo?I am planning to visit Rome next August.
thanks a lot.
You can google it but that sort of information will be in a current guidebook which you should definitely get as well as a map - you will need both when you are in Rome so get them in advance so you can plan your time.
Due to their long production cycles, one of the many sources I'd NOT go to for information of that sort is any guidebook!
Instead, this is the entry for the castle on a reasonably reliable website...
Tuesday-Sunday: 9.00 am - 7.30 pm
Closed: Monday, December 25, January 1
Last admission 1 hour before closing time.
Full: €5.00 Reduced: €3.00
In the event of cultural activities and/or temporary exhibitions, all ticket prices may be subject to change.
Check the "All today’s events" section for details.
But even there you might not be able to discover that, until 12 February, the two exhibitions they're staging have knocked the cost up to €8 for full price tickets, €5.50 if entitled to a reduction - unless looking the Italian version of precisely the right page....
Something that we always try to check with before our own visits is a handy monthly free magazine, "A guest in Rome". They've a website from where you can download a version in PDF format: start here, and click on the picture of its cover, over to the right of the screen:
And the entry for the castle in their January edition says:
Opening hours: 9 a.m. – 7.30 p.m. (Ticket office closes at 6.30 p.m.).
Closed Mondays, 25 December, 1 January.
Admission: €8.50, reduced €6; the price may vary for exhibitions.
.... which is fairly close to the situation at present?
Looking back at those from the last two Augusts, the times were the same then - however, given how frequently exhibitions are staged at the Castello, you can probably bank on having to pay the higher price!
Really? My guidebook has correct info.
Thanks,I really appreciat it.
